Heavy duty pavement marking tapes are conformable and highly reflective films which are designed to provide excellent nighttime delineation during either dry or light-to-moderate rainfall. They are pre-coated with a pressure-sensitive adhesive for convenient application. The markings readily conform to the pavement surface when tamped and are immediately ready for traffic following application. Tapes are intended for applications in areas which are well channelized and free rolling. Rougher grit than our construction grade pavement marking tape. Available in white or yellow. Size: 4 inches wide x 50 yards long Colors: Yellow or White Scope: This specification describes a pavement striping tape which is designed to provide reflective delineation under both dry conditions and conditions of moderate rainfall. Desciption: The pavement striping material shall consist of white or yellow weather and traffic-resistant reflective film on a conformable backing pre-coated with a pressure sensitive adhesive. Requirements: Color: The striping material shall be of white or yellow color as specified for pavement markings. Reflection: The white and yellow striping material shall be reflex-reflective, reflecting white or yellow respectively and shall be readily visible when viewed with automobile headlights at night and shall have the following minimum reflective values at 0.2 and 0.5 divergence measured in accordance with the photometric testing procedures of Federal specification L-S-300A "Sheeting and Tape, Reflective: Non-exposed Lens Adhesive Backing", Para. 4.4.7 or as amended. Reflective value shall be expressed as candle-power per foot candle per stripe measured on a 2.5 by 2 foot panel at 86 degrees incidence (a typical stripe is 4 inches x 15 inches equals 5 square feet). White and yellow striping material immersed in distilled water removed and allowed to drain at an angle of 4 degrees with the horizontal for 15 seconds shall have minimum reflective values expressed as candle-power per foot candle per stripe as follows: Adhesive: The striping material shall have a pre-coated pressure sensitive adhesive which shall not require a liner or activation. Performance Life: Pavement marking tapes are weather resistant and provide excellent reflectivity and color retention. Experience has shown that the " Wet Reflective" and "Construction Grades" are generally more durable than conventional high quality paint and will show no appreciable fading, lifting, shrinking or chipping when applied according to manufacturer's instructions. Actual performance life will be dependent upon pavement and atmospheric conditions at the time of application, application method, traffic and exposure conditions. The user should test for conformance to his requirements before making large scale applications. Abrasion or heavy wear may significantly reduce the expected performance life of the product. Storage: Pavement marking tapes should be stored in a cool, dry area indoors and used within one year after the date of purchase. |
